Rework - Menu

This is a gate fold menu I made while in Publication Design. The art movement my design is based off of is cubism. I decided to take the wood grain texture out of the main menu and instead have the same grainy effect for the borders as I do for the illustrations I made. I feel like the wooden texture fits well with the drink menu so I kept that the same.

  1. I really love this menu design! I like the wooden texture you have for the drink menu since it gives the drink menu more texture instead of using a plain color. I also like your illustrations of the wine glass and the grapes. The colors you chose fit your menu design. The logo is also very clever since it reminds me of stainless glass. Your illustrations also remind me of stainless glass. I also like where you placed your text and subheadings.

  2. Lovely menu - I can see a few details that would help this be completely done. The Logo - is the red color a bit too dark? I see a lighter version of that same red in the photo on Grand Boards (notice you need a capital B there… or no capitals in the other headings) as well as the color bars top and bottom on that page.

Grape & Prosciutto Skewers - canyon add just a bit more text to this item, so there isn’t a “hole” of negative space below it?

Build Your Own Board - the lines Choose 6 and Choose 3 are not placed clearly to indicate which sections they belong to. Maybe you can rewrite the top heading to become “Cheese and Meats” and place underneath that line the directive of “choose 6”… same for “Accompaniments” choose 3. You may not need as much line spacing on this page as you currently have… which should help you chunk those sections away from each other a bit more.

Lastly the Bar Menu - I’m not convinced you need the textured background - or if you really want to keep it… you need to lighten it enough that it doesn’t interfere with the readability of the body copy, as I see it does now. Top of the design… does it seem bit crowded to you?
