Project 1 Revision
I decided to redo my portrait illustration first. I had a plain blue background and the body copy was badly placed around Ellen in the vertical landscape orientation.
I wanted to create a background that looked similar to her blue show colors on her stage. I had a hard time figuring out how to place body copy in the vertical orientation one so I just left out everything besides her name. I then tried a horizontal version but due to have a sharp edge on the side of her arm I created a box to place her name in. I decided to keep just a quote from her on the layout.
Im not completely happy with how it is yet. Let me know what you think! :)

All you really need is her name, and thus the top vertical would get my vote. However, there certainly could be more type added at the bottom. One thought would be to have a dark area where the white quote could sit.
ReplyDeleteHi Karalyn! I really like the top vertical design as well because I love how her name sits and Ellen's head overlaps it just a little bit. Maybe try taking the solid blue shape from the horizontal design and placing that on the bottom of the other one with the text in there? Not sure if it would make the design too busy, just an idea.
ReplyDeleteKaralyn, you did a good job with illustration, background color and texture is amazing, however the second one is nice ,but I love the first one. The location of her name looks very nice and creative. To me it means however her name is so famous and popular, but she goes even farther that(she goes ahead even from herself!!!!)
ReplyDeleteThis is such a great illustration. You really managed to capture Ellen's look and personality. I like the vertical arrangement best and just her name behind her. Maybe you could add her signature motto, "Be kind to one another" at the bottom. Great job!
