Type Specimens
Here are my type specimens that I designed in typography class. I had paired Oswald and Georgia fonts to the Univers fonts.
Mount Wachusett Community College, in Gardner MA offers a 2-year program for Graphic and Interactive Designer students. This final course in the GID program helps students assemble and present their best work produced in the program. This blog is produced by the GID Portfolio class under the direction of instructor Coni Porter.
The last one, Univers, may have more potential then the other ones. What do you think? I think it might be because of that lovely elements in the lower right? To have this be a completed project for your portfolio consider using real type (history of Univers?) and continuing to develop the top portion of the composition. Maybe you could include a few more faces from that family? Maybe enlarge the cool lower right element and make it the focal point? Lots of options!
ReplyDeleteI'd say that the Oswald and Univers stick out the most to me. I agree with Coni that replacing the lorem ipsum with actual paragraphs would really strengthen these pieces. Overall though, I love the color pallets that were used and I think these are teeming with potential.
