Mount Wachusett Community College, in Gardner MA offers a 2-year program for Graphic and Interactive Designer students. You have some good elements here. Magazines often sit in racks, for sale in bookstores etc... so the name of the mag has to sit at the top, and the important cut line should be in the top 1/2. I wonder if you'd want to put the text together to read as 1 cutline: "Welcome to Zurich Switzerland, home of Max Miedinger and Helvetica". I think that text will be more readable if it was not outlined, but instead filled with a color.
ReplyDeleteI am happy that you clarified during class the other day that this was a magazine cover design. When I first looked at it, I was considering that it may have been a travel poster. I think it was initially, as Coni pointed out, that the title of the magazine isn't in a space that is expected. That being said, I now see what you are doing and I think if you bring that title up to where it belongs and add the traditional elements that a magazine cover has to your design (date, price, maybe titles of some of the other articles that will be inside) that this will be a great concept/design. Nice work!
