So upon revisiting the feedback for my last submission on this piece the main takeaway was the lack of whitespace usage and how jumbled the text looked all cramped in that large block, now I have just the two lines. How does this look?
Hi Nick - I think this is looking better all the time. I think what I would do is center the "food drink & tabletop gaming" under the name of your restaurant, maybe in a larger font size. Then I would take your tagline "come in and sit for a spell" somewhere at the top, maybe in a handwritten style typeface. Also the hand drawn 1/2 glass is taking up a lot of space and I'm not sure that it is immediately clear what it is. Maybe a pair of gaming dice instead? I wish this was a real place - it really looks fun! Keep up the good work!
Nick - Whatever you decide to do with the 2 taglines (leave them here or move one to the top of the ad) I want you to look closely at the kerning of the restaurant name. Do you see how uneven it appears? The C and K are too close, and the K and Y should clearly become a ligature since they are so far apart. The C and E are also too close. Kerning is tricky, but the more you are aware of the negative space between letters, the better you'll get at it. And... now the logo. It isn't really clear that it's a 1/2 glass, so maybe you don't need it? Or, maybe you should make it more recognizable, and fill in the shape with black or green, so it becomes more bold (and could be used smaller... maybe between the 2 big words?).
