Music Festival Poster

The final project I decided my portfolio needed was something that showcased typography.  I have created a new project that was inspired by the vintage style of music festivals that featured many performers. My concept is a festival called "Earthrise" which is meant to raise money and awareness for our environment.  The variety of typefaces for the bands/performers is intentional, but I feel that they work well together to pull off the overall aesthetic of the composition.  Feedback appreciated.

  1. I love the use of subtle earth tones in this piece. The kitsch, almost patchwork composition I feel also communicates the type of event that this would be quite well. One critique I do have is that the main header where it says "Earth Rise", should either stick to just one color to fit it in with the rest of the piece, or the shadow effect behind it could be made a little more subtle to make the header slightly easier to read. Overall however, this is a really strong piece that I could totally see hung up in a music venue. Excellent Job!

  2. This is such a beautiful event poster! I love the style of it with all the different fonts and colors. The "Earth Rise" does make me a little dizzy when I read it but maybe if each one below the original was moved up a little it wouldn't be too drastic. Great job on this - and it's a really great concept for what is going on! Much love.

  3. I love the victorian feel of the piece, lots of fonts and shapes... but you have unified all the different elements with a lovely muted color palette. So... what I'm about to suggest, to address the issue pointed out above in the feedbacks, is that you use a color that is slightly more brilliant than all the others for the words Earth Rise. Maybe mix a bit more red? This is the focal point, and the bolder it can be, the less it will visually be confused with what is happening behind it (which I think is important because it "shows" us the rising). There is another detail - in the line break that leaves the word "Planet" on its own line. I wonder if you'd like to balance that phrase so it breaks after the word Event?
